KAUST has a vast array of computer equipment and as items become supernumary due to changes in requirements the equipment can be redeployed. Social Responsibility works with KAUST IT and KAUST Finance to identify suitable computer equipment and we then liaise with with schools and charitable institutions in Thuwal and Qadimah to assess need, to ensure the donated equipment can be targeted most effectively.
Social Responsibility worked with Thuwal Albir Society to identify families likely to benefit, provided they met certain criteria that included one or more dependent children in Grades 7-12. 120 desktops were determined to be available for donation, with 100 for distribution and 20 as backup devices
